Why Jesus Came

A man asked me the other day why Jesus came.  He had an answer, but he wanted to hear mine.  I was caught off guard and I couldn’t put it very well into words, but I think I can now.  Jesus came to earth because He loves us.  He came to earth to walk among men like God did back in Eden.  He came to have relationship with people again, not like he did with Moses or Abraham, but like He did with Adam and Eve, and He came to teach us how to live in that relationship.  He came to do whatever was necessary to restore that relationship: stand in defiance against local authority, subject Himself to scorn and mockery, be tempted by an angel who betrayed Him, and even die in the most painful way possible, sacrificing his life so that, when we die and this world fades, we can walk with God in a new world like Adam and Eve did in Eden.  He showed us the way, opened a door, and invited us to walk through.  What awaits us on the other side is the fruit of his sacrifice and a testament to His love: eternal life with God, free from sin, the way He intended us to live.
